Michelle Abbott, Harpist

Well-known International harpist Michelle Abbott has performed extensively in USA, Hong Kong, Macau, China and around the world. She held the position of principal harpist with the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong for over 10 years. Michelle has taught at Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts in both the Junior School and the University Level. While there, she led Harp Ensemble, Orchestral Coaching, Pedagogy Classes and Private Instruction. She taught at Hong Kong Baptist University and aligned with the composition department in speaking about the harp to young composing students and, went on a world tour to USA, UK and Cambridge University to promote newly written works for the harp. She also taught at Hong Kong Chinese University where she established the university’s harp department. Michelle is an avid teacher for the ABRSM and Trinity Exam Syllabus, and encourages students to approach exams in a positive light. She holds ATCL and LTCL from Trinity UK. Michelle also studied at the University of South Florida and CIM.

Her entertaining performances of pop, jazz, light classics and other light hearted music have been enjoyed by many including Kevin Costner, Dan Quayle, the Princess of Thailand, the Prince of Greece and other celebrities and dignitaries. She has performed extensively in 5 star hotels and for private functions. Her wedding performances are highly sought after and include the famous Ho family of the Macau Gaming Magnate, Stanley Ho; the Kwok family of Sun Hung Kai Properties among others.
